Can you export a Framer website? Every way to get your code
Updated 15 October 2026
Framer has no code export. You can still get a Framer site out in three ways: a static HTML copy, React components from a plugin, or the whole site as a Next.js codebase with deframer. Here is what each one gives you and when to use it.
Why Framer has no export button
Framer's help center says it does not offer HTML export for self-hosting, because published sites rely on its own services: pre-rendering, image resizing, font subsetting, server rendering and its global network. So the code your visitors receive is built and served by Framer, and the editor has nothing to download.
What you can export from Framer itself is your CMS content, as CSV or JSON through plugins. That moves the text and images of your collections, not the site.
Every way to export a Framer website
| Way | What you get | Best for | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framer itself | Nothing: no code export | Your site stays on Framer hosting | — |
| HTML exporter | A static copy of the pages | Hosting a copy as it is | Generated files that are hard to edit |
| React Export plugin | React components you pick | Adding Framer components to an app you already have | Not a whole site; $50 or $250 a month |
| Rebuild by hand | Code you write | A site you plan to rewrite anyway | Days of work; every animation redone |
| deframer | The whole site as a Next.js project | Owning the site as code and changing it | Needs Node.js to run the commands |
1. A static HTML copy
HTML exporters open the published site and save each page with its styles, scripts, images and fonts into a folder or ZIP. You can upload that folder to any static host. It is the quickest way to keep a site online without Framer, but the result is a snapshot: the files are generated, so changing a layout or adding a page means editing machine-written HTML.
2. React components from a plugin
The React Export plugin (by unframer) exports components you select in a Framer project as typed React files for your own app. It is made for developers who already have a React or Next.js codebase and want to drop Framer-designed parts into it. It needs the Framer project open, does not export a whole site, and its listing on the Framer marketplace asks for a $50 a month (personal) or $250 a month (commercial) subscription.
3. The whole site as a Next.js codebase
deframer reads the published site from its link and builds a Next.js project from it: every page as a route, sections named in the code, the animations and breakpoints, every CMS page, and the images and fonts downloaded into the project. It works from the link alone, so it works with any published Framer site or template.
npx deframer@latest create https://yoursite.framer.website ./siteThe step-by-step version, with what you get and how to restyle it, is in Framer to Next.js: copy any Framer site into a real codebase.
4. Rebuild it by hand
Open the site in your browser's developer tools and rewrite it in the framework you like. You get exactly the code you want, but every page, breakpoint and animation is redone by hand, which takes days for a typical marketing site.
Which one should you use?
- You only want it online somewhere else, unchanged: an HTML copy, or deframer if you might change it later.
- You want to own the site and keep changing it: deframer, so you start from a real codebase with named sections.
- You only need a few Framer components inside an existing React app: the React Export plugin.
- You plan to redesign everything anyway: rebuild by hand, using an export as a reference.

What it costs: Framer, a designer, or deframer
Keeping a site on Framer's Pro plan costs $30 a month, billed yearly: $360 every year, for each site, for as long as it stays on Framer. Hiring a freelance Framer designer to build a site usually costs $1,500 to $5,000, before any change you ask for later.
deframer is one payment: $39 once until 1 November. It turns any Framer site or template into a codebase you own, so you start from a finished design instead of an empty page, and you host it where you choose, on a free or low-cost plan if you like.
| Option | Cost | What you pay for |
|---|---|---|
| Framer Pro plan | $360 a year, every year | Hosting and editing one site on Framer |
| Freelance Framer designer | $1,500 to $5,000 per site | Someone designing and building the site for you |
| deframer Lifetime | $39 once until 1 November | Every page of every site as Next.js code, re-sync forever |
Over three years, Framer Pro alone comes to $1,080 for one site. deframer is paid once, for every site, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Hosting your code is billed by the host you pick.

Questions
Can you export code from Framer?
Not from Framer itself: there is no code export button on any plan. To get the code out you use an outside tool that reads the published site, a plugin that exports single components, or you rebuild it by hand.
Can I download my Framer website as HTML?
Yes, with an HTML exporter: it saves the published pages, styles, scripts and images as a folder. You get a static copy, which is hard to change because the files are generated.
Can I export a Framer site to React or Next.js?
Yes. deframer turns the whole published site into a Next.js project with React pages. The React Export plugin exports single components you select inside a Framer project.
Do I need access to the Framer project?
Not with deframer or HTML exporters: they work from the link of the published site. Plugins run inside Framer, so they need the project open.
Will the animations and CMS come with it?
With deframer, yes: hovers, scroll effects, page transitions, breakpoints and every CMS page. With an HTML copy, animations depend on Framer's scripts in the files, and the CMS is only the pages that were saved.
Is exporting cheaper than staying on Framer or hiring a designer?
Usually. Framer's Pro plan is $360 a year for each site, and a freelance Framer designer usually charges $1,500 to $5,000 per site. deframer is one payment for every site; you then pay only for the hosting you choose.
