Framer to HTML, or a real codebase?
Updated 15 October 2026
Framer doesn't export HTML. An HTML exporter can save your published Framer site as static files you upload anywhere, but you can't really edit them. If you want to change and grow the site, export it as a real Next.js codebase instead.
HTML export or a real codebase?
Both start from the published site, so you don't need the Framer project. The difference is what you can do afterwards.
| HTML export | Next.js codebase (deframer) | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Folders of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images | A Next.js project with React pages |
| Pages | One HTML file per saved page | Every page as a route, sections named in the code |
| Changing text | Find it in the generated HTML | content.overrides.json, one file for every text |
| Changing the design | Edit generated markup and styles | Restyle named sections; colours in theme.css |
| Adding features | Plain HTML only | Anything React and Next.js can do: forms, login, a database |
| Keeping it in sync with Framer | Export again and redo your edits | deframer sync, your edits are kept |
| Hosting | Any static host | Any host that runs Next.js |
What an HTML export gives you
HTML exporters open each page of the published site and save it with its styles, scripts, images and fonts, usually as a ZIP. It is a snapshot: quick to put online on a static host, but the code is the output Framer generated for browsers, not something written to be edited. Most exporters say so themselves and suggest using the files as a reference if you want to rebuild in Next.js.
Go further: the whole site as a codebase
deframer reads the same published site and builds a Next.js project from it: every page as a route, sections with names like Hero and Pricing, the animations, breakpoints and CMS pages, and every image and font downloaded into the project.
Log in once:
npx deframer@latest loginExport the site from its link:
npx deframer@latest create https://yoursite.framer.website ./siteRun it:
cd site && pnpm dev
From there you edit texts in content.overrides.json, swap images listed in MEDIA.md and recolour the site in theme.css. More in Framer to Next.js and Make it yours.
Host it anywhere
A static HTML copy goes on any static host. A Next.js project runs on Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare or your own server; the steps, and how to move your domain, are in Self-host a Framer site.

What it costs: Framer, a designer, or deframer
Keeping a site on Framer's Pro plan costs $30 a month, billed yearly: $360 every year, for each site, for as long as it stays on Framer. Hiring a freelance Framer designer to build a site usually costs $1,500 to $5,000, before any change you ask for later.
deframer is one payment: $39 once until 1 November. It turns any Framer site or template into a codebase you own, so you start from a finished design instead of an empty page, and you host it where you choose, on a free or low-cost plan if you like.
| Option | Cost | What you pay for |
|---|---|---|
| Framer Pro plan | $360 a year, every year | Hosting and editing one site on Framer |
| Freelance Framer designer | $1,500 to $5,000 per site | Someone designing and building the site for you |
| deframer Lifetime | $39 once until 1 November | Every page of every site as Next.js code, re-sync forever |
Over three years, Framer Pro alone comes to $1,080 for one site. deframer is paid once, for every site, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Hosting your code is billed by the host you pick.

Questions
Can I export a Framer site to HTML?
Not from Framer: it has no HTML export for self-hosting. HTML exporters save the published pages as files you can upload anywhere. deframer goes further and turns the site into a Next.js project with React pages.
Is an HTML export editable?
Partly. You can change text in the files, but the HTML, styles and scripts are generated by Framer, so changing a layout or adding a page means editing machine-written code. A Next.js export has named sections and every text in one file.
Do animations still work in an HTML export?
Usually, as long as Framer's scripts are saved with the pages. With deframer they run inside the Next.js app, together with the breakpoints and CMS pages.
Can a Next.js export be hosted like a static site?
It runs anywhere Next.js runs: Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, Docker or your own Node.js server. Many hosts have free plans for it.
Which one should I choose?
If you only want the site online somewhere else, unchanged, an HTML copy is enough. If you want to restyle it, add pages or connect a backend, start from a Next.js codebase.
